For two decades my career was in sports advertising at the highest level of the field. I worked on every professional sport, shot commercials for major household brands, and planned and executed Super Bowl campaigns. It was my dream career. For a very long time, I loved every minute of it.
Then came one bad day. The first real signal that I was starting to burn out from the grind. I did not want to do this for another twenty years.
What I had always loved alongside the day job was planning travel. Friends and family kept asking me for trip ideas and I never minded the work. So in 2016 I started Shore to Sea Vacations on the side.
For several years I held down both jobs. Long hours. Real sacrifice. Two full-time gigs at once, until the agency could carry me on its own.
I grinded. Built. Tried marketing tactics that did not work. Tried more that did. Refined as I went. Expanded. I still do all of that, every week.
A real, currently-operating travel agency. $2M+ in annual sales as a solo advisor. Over 1,000 trips planned. MBA in Marketing. CLIA Accredited Cruise Counselor. Certified specialist in destinations across the Caribbean, Hawaii, the South Pacific, and Europe. Founding member of the Honeymoon & Destination Wedding Leaders Alliance. Four years in Sandals Royal Chairman's Club. Missed it this year. On track to earn it back next year.
Plus twenty years of working at the level of Super Bowl campaigns and major-brand advertising, which is a foundation most people teaching travel marketing have never had.
As the agency grew, something shifted. Helping a client pull off the trip she had been talking about for years turned out to be deeply satisfying. The work I had loved in advertising had been replaced by work I loved more.
That same satisfaction is what now drives Travel Agent MBA. Watching another advisor finally figure out the marketing piece, get the inquiries flowing, and build the business she actually wanted, is immensely satisfying. I have wanted other advisors to know they can do this too for a long time.
The brand is called Travel Agent MBA because I have one. An MBA in Marketing, earned the long way. For this brand, the letters also stand for Marketing and Business Accelerator. Both readings are on purpose.
